After brief housekeeping/updates, we will work through both articles (“Transforming Culture~” and the Capacity Building article), considering how transformative change occurs in schools and exploring the primary features of Inquiry-based Learning. Using Inquiry-based Learning as our framework, we will then work through a challenge in our groups (Inquiry-based Curriculum Play). This will involve you connecting to the curriculum documents (access here) in groups, and ‘playing’ with a curriculum document through hypothetical activity planning and imagining possible ways students might connect to the activity through new media, personal interests, and other concepts explored in the course. You will then share your most exciting ideas with the class. This is meant as an opportunity for you explore inquiry-based learning in the context of the curriculum, and begin thinking through how IBL can connect to the curriculum in myriad ways.

After break, we will use this idea of IBL as a springboard to explore project examples. I will then introduce you to production 5 and the wiki platform, go through a brief tutorial, and discuss the connections between wiki platforms and IBL, using Google Tour Builder as a transmedia connection to wiki projects.
